  • Duan is described as a "local legend" by friends and neighbours. He became blind at the age of 40 years after suffering glaucoma. He said "I felt bad because I could not see. I felt troubled because I was unable to do simple tasks". As a result of various therapeutic services, Duan now walks with a cane and has a cleaning job at a local college, where his daughter works as a teacher. He has learned to play the flute, the cucurbit and Chinese cello. He says, "I am so happy because I've started working and my family is very happy for me. I encourage people who learn from the miracle that has fallen over me".
